El metanol es también conocido como alcohol metílico, es un liquido incoloro, de baja densidad y miscible en agua.
Se utiliza como disolvente en industrias y es la materia prima del formaldehído, en ocasiones de emplea como anti-coagulante de vehículos, combustibles para estufas, tintes, resinas.
